Fascism is already here, wearing a suit and a smile

By Daniel Renwick

Fascism. Some say it is on the horizon, some say we are in the wake of it. Some say it is the power that binds us, others say it is woven into our very rationality. One thing that cannot be denied is its existence - its continuous existence.

I like to view it as potential energy within European civilisation. It is a force it uses when its scared. It all breaks down to an inferiority complex. Over the next few years, it is going to intensify - across Europe and its settler colonies.

If we keep evading the issues and complacently allowing this trajectory to continue, we will one day wake up to a world where people are locked up for the words they speak, the books they read or the people they associate with...where your every move is logged...where the whole country is under the boot of the elite and will be forced to sacrifice for the "greater good", i.e. the preservation of their system. All of this shit happened yesterday. The government have the potential to arrest you, crack your head and kill you with near enough impunity. We can talk about the rise of fascism all day - some days I struggle to separate it from now.

So, with the EDL (English Defence League) now fighting elections will they soon have representation in parliament? They already do. The immigrant bashing Islamophobe is your local politician. So, while some say - march against the EDL - prevent fascism, I say fascism wears a suit and a smile and gets you to desire your own oppression through slick PR - and he's been in power for a long time. Spreading genocide, civil war and arsenal. But, like football, its coming home. And that potential energy will become kinetic before you can even mutter the word "union".
